The green weed which is rather like bunches of small green beads is much relished by some (Mason 1950).
Medicinal
Faulkner 1958 records a seaweed "a soft, globular variety chewed as a panacea for sore throats and chests." It may be this seaweed since it is tender and has a peppery flavour (Crowe 1981).
[Could possibly refer to Hormosira banksii, Neptune's Necklace, since it is more common and is also tender and edible. Ed.]
