Kūmara cultivar. Cultivated in the northern districts - Bay of Islands, Hokianga, Kaitaia. Red skin and flesh. Grooved sides, prized sort.(Colenso 1880).

Listed in Berridge 1913: 415 as one of the varieties grown by tuber by "an old Māori" informant.

Among the pre-European varieties recorded on the East Cape (Williams 1894).

Cultivated in the Hokianga ( Hammond 1894).

Listed in Best 1925
