Description
Kūmara cultivar. Cultivated in the northern districts - Bay of Islands, Hokianga, Kaitaia. White skin variety, slightly reddish flesh (Colenso 1880).
Flesh the shade of Metrosideros (rata) wood (Colenso 1881b).

Traditions
The name (according to some legends) of the first kūmara on the West Coast; and, also, of an old variety of kūmara, universally known in the North Island (Colenso 1881a).
