Study demonstrating that pīngao can be gardened and container grown. Techniques outlined. Pīngao shows a variation in colour, size, structure and habit in different parts of New Zealand. Sufficient characteristics retained in cultivation to suggest genetic differences. Container grown plants higher survival rate in wild than cuttings. Best planting sites are dune hollows.
