1) Notes from Flax Commissioners Report 1870, 1871

Kelly, New Plymouth 1870; Leaf dark green. Edge has narrow line of dark brown, which appears black. Keel is pale yellow.

Taranaki Native, 1871; One of best varieties for garment making. Prepared samples for Flax Commissoners.

Hursthouse, 1871; first rate quality.

Planted in Botanic Gardens, Wellington, 1870, from seed obtained from Taranaki.
