Harakeke cultivar.

Best 1898, 1907: Urewera. Formerly looked on as being tapu, as its leaves (fibre) used in dressing hair of chiefs.

Williams 1971: A choice variety of flax, used for making bands for dressing hair.

Best 1942: a fine variety.

Andersen 1907: set apart for making of fillets to bind the hair.
