Description
Purple flesh with white flecks. Deep set eyes. Sets tubers late in the season. Most widely grown variety. Appears similar to type grown in Andes of Peru. Sometimes found growing wild on uncultivated ground; in Northland found in vicinity of old pa sites. Possibly synonymous with 'Congo' - early European variety. (Harris 1997) . See also Genet 1996.
