Harakeke cultivar.

1)Following notes from Flax Commissioners Reports 1870, 1871:

Kelly, Taranaki; Light green leaf, reddish brown keel and edge, narrower underneath.

Taranaki Native; rough garments, ropes only. Sample prepared for Flax Commissioners.

Opunake Native; breaking strain = 76

Waikanae Native; darkish green leaf. Broad, red-brown edge on the upper side, narrow do. (sic) below. Most common flax round Waikanae

Seed from Taranaki planted in Botanic Gardens, Wellington, in 1870.

2) Best 1942, Williams 1971; a fine variety

3) Selwyn 1847; Found chiefly in Taranaki. One of haro varieties.
