Kūmara cultivar. One of the Waīna variants. Information in this record comes from Yen 1963. Introduced pre-1900. The cream-skinned ("yellow") variant is [1963] grown extensively in Māori gardens. In Paihia and Motatau localities (Northland) it is sometimes called Heringi. Yen reports that this type has arisen spontaneously in pink- and red-rooted forms of Waīna grown at the Ōtāhuhu experimental station. Leaves and roots illustrated (ibid: 34,38)
