Potato cultivar. Two ancient varieties cultivated at Ruatoki, but no longer seen (Puihi, living in 1902, an old Tūhoe man. Quoted in Best 1902)

"In the Bay of Plenty district it is a popular belief that the araro and rokoroko varieties of the potato ... were cultivated there prior to the arrival of the Europeans, but old Tutakangahau of Maunga-pohatu stated that they were obtained during the early years of intercourse with Europeans."
