Article based on publication of Lucy Moore's "Economic importance of seaweeds". Describes seaweed collecting process for production of agar. Survey of seaweeds as a source of potash - Macrocystis pyrifera, butterfish kelp, highest potash values, but drying/processing difficult. Production of carrageen, Irish moss - some Gigartina species suitable - for jelly making, clarifying beer, sizing fabrics. Positive health effects if stock have seaweed to eat.
