Harakeke cultivar. Users today would give conflicting descriptions of this flax. Rene"s plant tallies with some, but not all information given in early records Flax Commissioners Reports 1870, 1871; Department of Agriculture Annual Report 1908). Very tall, erect variety, up to 3 metres. Straight, wide, medium green blades with yellow margin and keel. Flowers freely - 5 kōrari to one bush - short seed pods.

Not heavy enough for piupiu but makes a very good strong kete (unboiled) which dries out to a rich golden corn colour.
