1) From Flax Commissioners Reports 1870, 1871:

Kelly, New Plymouth; leaf erect, edge brown. Used for rough garments. General resemblance to Takaiapu

Taranaki Native; rough garments, ropes only

Opunake Native; breaking strain 87.6

2) Best 1942 ; huruhuruwhika

3) Williams 1971 ; a flax variety

4) Andersen 1926 ; listed among varieties

5) Mead 1985; Huruhika. Probably the same as Oue
