Notes
p76. "Where the tracks leave the forest at Korero-mai-rangi (at Tauherenikau) is one scent; where the tracks emerge from the forest at Te Tawaha (Bidwell"s) is the second scent." Te Whaiti explained the two scents as the fat birds cooking at Kore-mai-rangi and the fragance of the mokimoki plant at Te Tawaha."
