Harakeke cultivar.

1) Best 1942:a darkedged variety

2) Kelly, New Plymouth. Flax Commissioners Report 1870: Abundant in Opunake. Leaf bright green. Wide, black edge. Easily distinguished.

3) Taranaki Natives: One of best varieties for garment making. One of samples prepared for Flax Exhibition.

4) From Flax Commissioners Report 1871 ("Taihore")

Kelly, Taranaki. Plant or variety ?

< Raglan, Native. Breaking strain = 70

Armstrong, Christchurch. Leaves linear. Very strong. Dark red edge. Fibre % = 19.8

Heaphy, West Coast. Best fibre

Hutton, Waikato. Best variety, cultivated. Strip of leaf 1/8 of inch broad bore a strain of 48 lbs.

5) Andersen 1907: Easily distinguished by its light green leaf with wide black edge.
