Old potatoes of last season: pūkeko
Potatoes left in ground too long, so deteriorate: tauhere, kōpura
Self-sown potatoes: pātohe, piwaiPotato fruit (potato apples): takuru
Description
Potatoes growing from these seeds [takuru] are termed monemone, on account of their smoothness, the indentations being small. The takuru of the Maori variety only were considered fit to eat. (Best 1902)
