Experimental transmissions established that virus is readily transmitted under suitable conditions by leaf rubbing with infected sap and by the hopper Oliarus atkinsoni. Sometimes through root grafts and seeds. Virus endemic. Control - flooding, insecticides, elimination of sources of infection in nurseries and plantations, breeding for resistance.
