Ngā Rauropi Whakaoranga

"Some of the larger-leaved veronicas possess very valuable medicinal qualities. I generally have a pound or two of dried leaves in my home or when travelling, and in many cases have infused these and given a dose to men suffering from dysentery, or some similar complaint, effecting a cure. The possession of this quality was well known by the Māoris, and settlers often use the leaves to cure scouring in calves and cattle. For calves the infusion is placed in the milk twice a day till the complaint is cured"
