Harakeke cultivar. This flax was also sent from Taranaki to the Botanic Gardens, Wellington in 1870. (Flax Commissioners Report 1872). One of few traditional varieties of variegated flax. The whole bush has a yellow appearance, with the bright green leaves striped with a bright sulphur yellow. Short, straight strong pointed blades. Orange margin and keel. Few kōrari, with light flower heads. Ornamental.

Said to have been valued only as an ornamental. However produces high quality, shiny, but rather brittle fibre.
