Harakeke cultivar.

1) One of varieties called haro - i.e., must be scraped with a shell. Found chiefly at Hauraki. (Selwyn 1847: 241)

2) Ate also known as Tamatea; Grown at Weraroa for milling by Department of Agriculture. Grown from seed. Variations in seedlings marked. ( Drysdale & McGregor 1910)
