Notes
pp 153-158 Description of a hakari organised by Te Toko, a chief of the Te Uriohau (hapu) of Ngati Whatua. The hakari had kūmara, roi (fernroot), pohue, tawa and hīnau berries and dried shark. Te Toko-o-te-rangi obtains an atua from an old priestess at Kaikohe to help his tribe against Nga-Puhi. Woman gives him a hei or tiki, made of raukawa (one of greenstone types), carefully bound up in aute bark. Had to build a carved house to keep it in.
