Eight species considered more effective than blueberry for antioxidant activity: Swamp maire (Syzygium maire) and tītoki (Alectryon excelsus) in particular, followed by rewarewa (Knightia excelsa) stamens, harakeke (Phormium tenax) stamens, leaves of puha (Sonchus oleraceus), berries of māpou (Myrsine australis), (Corokia buddleioides) and pūriri (Vitex lucens).
