Bell F. Dillon, Young Frederick Jnr. 1842. Reasons for promoting the cultivation of the New Zealand Flax. London, Smith, Elder and Co. 34 p.
Notes
The authors hope to encourage the setting up a company to experiment on a large scale with New Zealand flax, which they see as having excellent prospects as an article of trade. They quote various authorities to support their arguments as to the value of flax, and its superiority over other hemp. The authors are convinced that flax defects are attributable to the preparation of flax, not to the inherent nature of the fibre.
