Kūmara cultivar. European pre-1900. One of Waīna variants. Similar to Owairaka Red - dark purple skin, large, smooth, inclined to ovoid. Flesh dark yellow with purple centre - but generally less purple-centred. Root and leaves illustrated in Yen 1963: 34,38-39.

One of varieties sent by Yen to Japan for safe-keeping (Yen 501-1). Returned 19 November 1988
