Taylor (1855) describes Celmisia holocericeus [sic] as " a large broad-ribbed leafed aster, dark green on one side, and white downy on the other, growing on the central plains. Parerarera, peka peka [sic.], (Celmisia coriacea), a smaller kind, found in the same parts as the former."

[NB Taylor not always reliable. The latter description could refer to Celmisia gracilenta]
