Potato cultivar. "A pre-European potato" (Tamarau, of Ruatoki, quoted in Best 1902). See discussion of issue in Best 1902: 83-86. Smooth surface, without indentations. White flesh and brown or reddish skin (whero). It very soon became cold after being taken from the oven.
