Note by Percy Smith on the introduction of karaka, pukeko and kakariki. Said to be brought in Aotea canoe, commanded by Turi, who stayed on the way at Rangituhia Island. Smith surmises this may be Sunday Island in the Kermadec group. Smith suggests that the karaka and the birds may have been introduced from the Kermadec Islands.
