The background and events of a visit by Aotearoa Moananui a Kiwa weavers to Norfolk Island in May 1994 are described. Norfolk Island is the only place outside New Zealand where flax is endemic. It has poor fibre compared to selections used by Māori weavers in New Zealand. Details on a proposed "Peoples" Garden", where plants of traditional importance to the lives of Norfolk Islanders can be grown, and where plants can be harvested for traditional uses.
