(In French) Principle varieties of tī in Marquesas and Tahiti described - distinguished by their form, size, appearance and colour of leaves and roots. Use for garments and food described. Grown in sub-tropical USSR as textile plant. Used for ties in citrus plantations and vineyards. Root structure, chemistry described. Very high sugar content in some older roots (1 root of 5 kilos yielded a kilo of sugar). Tahitian cooking practices described. Tī fermented to make alcohol. Planted in marae enclosures, used ceremonially. Medicinal treatments described (ear infection, diarrhoea, abscesses)
