Aston B. C. 1919. The poisonous, suspected and medicinal plants of New Zealand. New Zealand Journal of Agriculture 17(1): 6-9
Notes
Notes on karaka and tutu. Author found that baking karaka fruit in oven like chestnuts destroyed all bitter taste. Kernels became innocuous and palatable. Includes comments from other authors. Aston cites references on physiological effects of tutin.
