Plants tall with a high leaf number like Marigold. Relatively short, wide ears. Kernels almost exactly as wide as they were long. White cobs.

Corn cultivar. Open-pollinated variety similar to Hickory King complex from southern U.S.A. Favoured by many Māori farmers for its large water-absorbent kernels which made it ideal for rotting. ( Rhodes and Eagles 1984;Yen 1959).
