P. Smith was a Native School teacher at Ōtaua, Far North. Presented display at the Centennial Exhibition, Wellington 1940 on medicinal uses of plants. Ruth. Mason, Botany Division, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Christchurch obtained his notes through his widow, May Smith.
