Cucurbitacins I and D, and two new cytotoxic cucurbitacins isolated from P. tenax. (Cucurbitacins are tumour inhibitors). A 95% EtOH extract of the leaves of P. tenax demonstrated significant inhibitory activity in vivo against P-388 lymphocytic leukemia in the mouse, and in vitro against cells derived from human carcinoma of the nasopharynx, (KB)
