Dawson Murray J., Beuzenberg Ernst J. 2000. Contributions to a chromosome atlas of the New Zealand flora - 36. Miscellaneous families. New Zealand Journal of Botany 38(1): 1-23
Notes
C. australis accessions were all diplod with 2n = 38. The Australian species, C. rubra, is octoploid with 2n = 152.
One accession of C. rubra counted is derived through vegetative propagation from the individual illustrated by Nancy Adams in Trees and Shrubs of New Zealand (Poole and Adams, 1990) as C. terminalis. "This individual is purportedly a vegetative descendant of a plant collected near Ahipara on an expedition to the North Cape district by T.F. Cheeseman and J. Adams (Cheeseman 1896), and grown on in Thames (N.M. Adams in letter to R.E. Beever)"
