p.106-110, uses of flax. Chilblains - poultice of roasted and macerated roots. Soft part of leaf base placed over wounds to stop bleeding. However, some bushmen say juice of leaf acts as a poison to cut. Cuts obtained in handling of leaves in flaxmill usually fester. p.110, description of Chatham Island variety.
